Take Action – Pass Intro 1447

Our number one priority is getting workers home safely

Over the past two years, thirty-two construction worker deaths have occurred on New York City construction sites. This is an epidemic. The City Council is taking action. In January of 2017 they announced their intention to introduce 18 bills addressing construction safety.

Building Blocks NYC applauds the New York City Council for introducing measures that will protect a workforce that is often exploited by irresponsible contractors. It is time we stop allowing contractors to develop buildings with workers that have criminally negligent levels of training.

The eighteen bills address different areas of the marketplace that require reform, but none are more important than bill 1447 sponsored by Jumanne Williams, which will require rigorous training standards for construction workers on certain, more complex job sites.
